My goal is to reveal one teacher's humble journey of self-reflection, critical analysis, and endless questioning about my craft of teaching and learning alongside my middle school students.

"The dream begins with a teacher who believes in you, who tugs and pushes and leads you to the next plateau, sometimes poking you with a sharp stick called 'truth'." ~ Dan Rather

Happy spring break!

It was recently Billy Collin’s birthday (as if you needed a reason to be happy with the calendar!); here’s a spring break-y poem of his to celebrate with:

Today
I  If ever there were a spring day so perfect,
so uplifted by a warm intermittent breeze

That it made you want to throw
open all the windows in the house

and unlatch the door to the canary's cage,
I  indeed, rip the little door from its jamb,

a day when the cool brick paths
and the garden bursting with peonies

   seemed so etched in sunlight
   that you felt like taking

a hammer to the glass paperweight
on the living room end table,

   releasing the inhabitants
f  from their snow-covered cottage

   so they could walk out,
   holding hands and squinting

into this larger dome of blue and white,
well, today is just that kind of day.

Or, if you prefer to hear poetry read by the poet…

Hope everyone has a wonderful spring break and we get a day or two like “Today”!
