Duties and Responsibilities: Teach a range of English courses to both developmental and transfer level students, focusing on composition.
- Teach with attention to student learner outcomes.
- Work independently and collaboratively with colleagues to identify, plan, develop, and implement learning strategies to meet students, special populations, Colleges, and community needs.
- Evening, weekend, television, Internet, and off-campus classes may be assigned as part of regular workload.
- Provide advising and counseling to students.
- Provide College and community service.
- Participate in professional and self-development activities.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s in English, Literature, Writing, ESL OR
- Master’s in Fine Arts (Creative Writing) OR
- Master’s in Education with English emphasis.
- All minimum qualifications must be met by the effective date of appointment.
Desirable Qualifications
- Evidence of leadership in developing innovative learning strategies at the developmental English level.
- Teaching experience in English composition, reading, and learning skills at both the developmental and transfer levels, preferably at the post secondary level with attention to learning outcomes and program review.
- Knowledge, through course work and or experiences, of varied educational delivery modes such as distance education and instructional technology.
- Work experience in business, government, industry, and/or non-profit organizations.
- Demonstrated ability to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds and academic skills.
- Teaching experience in English composition.
