Maryland: #1 Again in Education | January 2012
|
A Message from the GovernorThis week, we received the great news that Maryland's public schools were named #1 in the country for the fourth year in a row by Education Week Magazine. I'd like to thank our students, parents and educators for continuing to achieve at unprecedented levels.
From the early days of our Administration, job creation--and its primary ingredient, education--has topped our agenda. Together, during recessionary times, even as we've cut $6.8 billion in state spending, we've made record investments in K-12 public schools.
Next week, we'll be releasing our proposed FY2013 budget and I can tell you one thing for certain: Maryland's schools will remain a top priority.
Together, we'll continue to build world-class institutions of learning that prepare our children for the challenges of tomorrow.
-Governor O'Malley
