My goal is to reveal one teacher's humble journey of self-reflection, critical analysis, and endless questioning about my craft of teaching and learning alongside my middle school students.

Free Professional Development Opportunity with the Urban Ecology Institute

Hello all,

I need your help in recruiting science teachers interested in an exciting professional development opportunity.  Lesley University (where I currently teach) is partnered with the Urban Ecology Institute http://www.urbaneco.org/ed/prodev.asp.  We are offering a professional development workshop this summer that traditionally has a waiting list, and this year is woefully under-subscribed.  The institute is free for participants  though in the past they received a stipend to attend - a contributing factor in the low enrollment no doubt.  I have attached the flayer advertising the workshop.  This year the institute runs from July 5-14.  Activities include daily scientific field expeditions to urban waterways, green space and rooftops with research scientists including; Bird Acoustics with Dr. Eric Strauss,  Loyola Marymount University; Plantetwalk with Dr. David Morimoto,  Lesley University, and Vertical Farming with Dr. Michael Barnette ,Boston College.  Institute participants will use a variety of technology tools to gather and analogize data.  In addition, educational sessions with Dr. Susan Rauchwerk http://profiles.lesley.edu/spotlight.php?iSpotID=1099 will support the integration of institute content and skills into current school curricula.  Participants will receive 56 PDP's for participating in the institute. An invitational letter is attached.

We greatly appreciate any recruitment support you can provide. Feel free to pass this information along, or send contact information to me and we will reach out to them directly.
Thank you,
--
Susan
